Lefroy Exploration Ltd (ASX:LEX) has returned high-grade gold intersections from drilling at Lucky Strike prospect in the Eastern Lefroy tenement package southeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

The results from a 10-hole reverse circulation (RC) program are from 1-metre samples of anomalous gold zones determined from 4-metre composite samples reported in early December 2018.

Lefroy told the market today multiple significant shallow oxide gold intersections were assayed in an upper banded iron formation (BIF) unit at the wholly-owned prospect.

Best results were 8 metres at 3.46 g/t gold from 48 metres, including 2 metres at 5.08 g/t from 49 metres; 2 metres at 6.22 g/t from 32 metres; 4 metres at 2.95 g/t from 20 metres; and 7 metres at 1.5 g/t from 20 metres, including 1 metre grading 6.66 g/t from 23 metres.

Lefroy also reported significant primary zone gold intersections from the lower BIF unit such as 12 metres at 2.37 g/t from 96 metres, including 3 metres at 6.35 g/t from 101 metres; and 4 metres at 1.72 g/t from 104 metres.

Lefroy managing director Wade Johnson said: “Lucky Strike continues to deliver robust shallow and primary gold intersections that continue to enhance and grow the exciting BIF-hosted gold system.

“We are eager to get the next phase of drilling underway to follow up the recent results, expand the system with the aim of being able to delineate an inferred resource, especially in the oxide zone.”

Lefroy said gold mineralisation in the oxide and primary zones remained open along strike and down dip.

The company’s next steps at the project may include additional RC and diamond drilling from February 2019.
