EMED confirms third gold discovery in Slovakia
Five drill holes completed at Slatinske Lazy all intersected gold over the entire length of the 250 metre holes. The best intercepts were 51 metres grading 1.21 grams per tonne gold from 99 metres down hole in hole SLE4 and 121 metres grading 0.53 grams per tonne gold from 33 metres down hole in hole SLE5. EMED said that the mineralisation appeared to stronger to the north towards the Klokoc-Podpolom prospect where drill will occur later this year.

Managing Director, Mr Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, of EMED Mining said:

“Our substantial 2008 exploration program in central Slovakia is progressing well. Approximately 15,000m of diamond drilling is planned for 2008, which will be split between advancing Biely Vrch towards an initial JORC-compliant resource and progressing exploration of other porphyry gold prospects within our large, 100% owned licences.

Exploration of this previously unrecognised porphyry gold district is at a very exciting stage as we identify further prospects for drilling by undertaking geological mapping and geochemical surveys. We aim to drill at least a further three prospects during 2008.”

Gold Fields' decision reflects in part its change in its internal priorities and EMED's increasing focus on the potential exercise of its option to acquire the Rio Tinto copper project in Spain. We look forward to an ongoing constructive relationship between EMED and Gold Fields given the significant potential we see in our Slovakian gold assets."

EMED to raise £10 million at 20 pence per share
The funds raised will be used for the final review phase of the Rio Tinto Copper Mine in Andalucia, Spain. The additional cash will also fund additional exploration work in EMED's other projects in Cyprus, Georgia and Slovakia.

Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, MD of EMED Mining, said:

"The fantastic success of this placing has been a great encouragement to our ongoing efforts at EMED Mining. It was significantly oversubscribed, and retained strong support from our existing major shareholders, including Oxiana, Resource Capital Funds, Fidelity International, RMB Australia, and members of EMED's management and Directors.

"The financial depth of our shareholder base, combined with the quality of our funding arrangements, is a key strength in helping us to evaluate future funding alternatives on the potential exercise of the option over the Rio Tinto Mine. It also helps to mitigate some of the financing risks associated with, and is a major vote of confidence in, the commitment to such a project by a Company of our size. We believe these investors recognize that, if exercised, the option over Rio Tinto Mine will transform EMED Mining from an explorer to a major copper producer with significant cash generation within a short space of time."

EMED - progress report on Rio Tinto copper mine
The company reports that technical and economic assessments continue to deliver positive results, and that constructive engagement with the regulatory authorities and other stakeholders has been started. EMED maintains that asking shareholders to approve the exercise of the option and restarting production at the Rio Tinto Mine is contingent on all conditions precedent being satisfied.

In the Company's view, the principal permitting matter to be resolved is the satisfactory resolution of legal disputes between the project-vendor company Mantessur Andevalo S.L and the mine-permitting authorities.

The company is encouraged that disputes concerning control of the project-vendor company MSA, have now been being settled by the Courts. Ths which will clarify the situation for all stakeholders and will allow EMED Mining to satisfy an outstanding condition in a relatively short time frame.

Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, MD of EMED Mining said:

“We remain optimistic that we will satisfy the remaining conditions precedent that will allow us to exercise the option as the Andalucia authorities become satisfied with our Company's credentials and as we demonstrate our clear independence from previous owners."

Mr Bill Enrico, COO of EMED Mining said:

"It is apparent to me that the Rio Tinto Mine can restart quite easily and quickly. The most important aspect is to establish the right culture and team for the future. We will do that as soon as we meet our conditions precedent and obtain the necessary permits to proceed. Our restart plans are well advanced and we anticipate production would be expected to commence six months after exercising the option."]]>

EMED Mining Wed, 13 Feb 2008 23:00:00 +0000 EMED Mining Wed, 13 Feb 2008 23:00:00 +0000 Quarterly report buoys EMED Mining
At Biely Vrch, in Slovakia, EMED said it would carry out additional work in 2008 to help define a JORC compliant mineral resource. EMED has estimated there is some 1.2 million ounces of contained gold at Biely Vrch. In addition to work at Biely Vrch, EMED added that it had commenced additional drilling at Slatinske Lazy prospect where the Company confirmed mineralised area with similar characteristics to Biely Vrch and Kralova prospects last year.

Meanwhile in Spain, EMED said that due diligence on the PRT copper project was at an advanced stage. A senior management team is now in place in Spain ready to swiftly move the historical property back into production once Government and shareholder approval has been granted. EMED reaffirmed its ambition to move the PRT copper project back into operation by the final quarter of 2008.

In Cyprus, a review of the Company's copper-zinc project recommended that further work should be undertaken to expand the resource, and finally, in Georgia, EMED said that it would conduct additional prospecting to prioritise targets.

EMED updates progress in Spain
EMED presented a detailed update on the wide range of activities it is carrying out in Spain ahead of a formal decision from the local government and subsequent shareholder approval and financing it will have to undertake to restart production.

The Company said that it is still working on a time line that would see a formal decision received in the second quarter of 2008, allowing production to recommence in the final quarter of 2008. Planning, documentation, financing negotiations, managerial and advisory appointments along with equipment refurbishment, permitting, due diligence and testing are all underway to ensure that if approval was received, EMED would be able to move swiftly to implement a re-start in short order.

The Company also confirmed that it was spending approximately €300,000 per month at PRT, and still had some €3.5 million in the bank.

Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, MD of EMED commented:

“We remain optimistic that we will receive all necessary permits once the
Government becomes satisfied with our Company's professional and financial
credentials, and that we can deliver the remaining conditions precedent and so be in a position to create significant value for the various stakeholders
associated with this attractive copper mine.”]]>

EMED starts drilling in Cyprus
The review confirmed that the project warranted additional work, including drilling, metallurgical test work, and further study into refurbishment cost estimates for the Mitsero processing plant, before any decision to launch a full feasibility study.

EMED said it had commenced verification and exploration drilling already at Klirou. Additionally, the Company hinted that its unique proprietary geological information system which holds all the data for the entire island of Cyprus would allow it to assess other opportunities in joint venture with a "Turkish Cypriot business leader" whose identity was not revealed.

Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, MD of EMED added:

"EMED Mining's option over the Proyecto Rio Tinto ('PRT') project in Spain is currently our priority development project as it can potentially be brought into production relatively quickly, subject to regulatory consents being forthcoming. Following the potential re-start of PRT in the second half of 2008, we will consider commencing a full feasibility study on the Klirou Copper-Zinc Project. In the interim, EMED Mining will continue low-cost evaluation work on various
opportunities in Cyprus and related business opportunities elsewhere".

This has been done to provide more funding flexibility for the EMED as it woks towards the reopening of the Proyecto de Rio Tinto mining centre in Spain.

Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, MD of EMED Mining said:

"EMED Mining continues to steadily build its confidence that the Proyecto de Rio Tinto copper project in Spain will proceed and will be worthwhile for all stakeholders in Andalucia and for a metal-starved world. EMED anticipates that earliest that production could start at PRT would be during the third quarter of 2008.

Mr Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, MD of EMED Mining said:

The Kralova Prospect is only 20 kilometres south west of Biely Vrch, EMED's other discovery in Slovakia. Two drill holes, KVE1 & KVE2 intercepted wide zones of low grade gold mineralisation, including 158 metres grading 0.37 grams per tonne and 56 metres grading 0.8 grams per tonne.

The news was enough to keep EMED on its upward projectory.

EMED surges to new highs
This morning’s move was initiated by a press release where the company announced it had extended the zone of mineralisation at its Biely Vrch Gold Porphyry Prospect in Slovakia. EMED said it had increased the preliminary estimated size of the prospect to 50 million tonnes containing 1.2 million ounces of gold with the project still open to the north and south. EMED has yet to complete a JORC compliant resource estimate, but said that infill drilling would occur as soon as possible. The company added that it had also secured an additional seven exploration licences in the Central Slovakian Volcanic Field covering some 1107 square kilometres giving it the largest position of any company in the country.

Managing Director Harry Anagnostaras-Adams added:

"We believe we have discovered a significant gold province. This type of gold system, porphyry gold, is typically noted for its clusters of orebodies with substantial intervals of consistent mineralisation, enabling multi-million ounce gold orebodies to be delineated. The first 15 holes at Biely Vrch suggest that the zone of mineralisation
contains approximately 1.2 million ounces of gold and that it will be increased with further drilling. The deposit remains open to the north and south. Porphyry gold deposits typically occur in clusters and we have begun scout drilling at the Kralova Prospect. In addition several other nearby prospects in our 100%-owned licences are known to have the appropriate geology and geochemistry to host porphyry gold mineralisation."

EMED extends gold porphyry with higher grades & gains new licence
Highlights included 371m at 1.34g/t gold from 30m down-hole and 150m at 0.53g/t gold from surface. The drill-holes (DVE11 and DVE12) are part of a program to expand the zone of mineralisation, it was previously estimated to contain 15 to 23 million tonnes of ore, containing approximately 0.5 to 0.7 million ounces of gold.

The company also said it has been granted an exploration licence which covers the Klokoc prospect, which includes a previously defined small gold resource and also appears to have gold porphyry characteristics.

Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, MD of EMED said:

"The beauty of porphyry gold systems is that substantial intervals are consistently mineralised, enabling multi-million ounce orebodies to be delineated relatively quickly.

These first two holes in our current drilling program already suggest that the size of the previously reported zone of mineralisation will be at least doubled with further drilling.

Porphyry gold deposits typically occur in clusters and several nearby prospects in our 100%-owned, 20km by 10km Detva Licence are already known to have the appropriate geology and geochemistry to host porphyry gold mineralisation."

Emed opens higher on acquisition update
Noteworthy advances in the acquisition included the submission of proposals to restart production to the Andalucia state government. EMED's consultants, AMC, also increased the JORC mineral resource to 255 million tonnes at 0.57% copper. Anticipated production was also expanded by 50% to 40,000 tonnes per annum of copper concentrate which would generate EBITA of US$50 million based on a copper price of US$2.50/lb and total costs of US1.31/lb.

"We are making significant progress in our due diligence and have formulated production restart plans which we believe will fulfil all local and regional requirements. We have formed an excellent leadership team at EMED Tartessus which will be augmented by personnel to be recruited upon our receipt of all regulatory clearances, shareholder approvals and the requisite financial commitments from our bankers and shareholders" added Harry Anagnostaras-Adams, Managing Director of EMED Mining.

EMED latest drilling at Biely Vrch confirms classic gold porphyry system
Drilling results included 0.94g/t gold over 258m from surface, including 154m at 1.3g/t gold from surface. Porphyry gold deposits are usually large (100 million tonnes or more) low-grade (0.7g/t to 1.8g/t gold) bulk-mineable deposits. Porphyry gold deposits typically occur in clusters.

Results to date, at Biely Vrch have defined a mineralised zone, estimated to contain 15 to 23 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.0g/t gold - containing approximately 0.5 to 0.7 million ounces. Current drilling is aimed at extending mineralisation northwards and southwards and further work is required to define a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource.

The company is also test drilling nearby prospects, which appear analogous to Biely Vrch.

EMED’s MD Harry Anagnostaras-Adams said:

"Mineralisation at Biely Vrch continues to be extended and is open in several directions. This drilling provides encouragement for the ultimate delineation of a significant Mineral Resource. The recognition of Biely Vrch as a porphyry gold system is exciting as this style of deposit typically occurs in clusters”

EMED's shares rose 0.5p (3.33%) to 15.50p on the news]]>

Fox-Davies says ''buy' EMED Mining
In the note Fox-Davies highlighted the postive results from drilling in Slovakia at the Biely Vrch gold project and the potential acquisisiont of the PRT copper mine in Spain as motivators for the recommendation.

Fox-Davies stated that using a conservative long term copper price of US$2,5550 per tonne valued PRT at £63.5 million offering significant value for EMED.

Landore makes successful progress on its VW Zone drilling program
The results for the first nine holes showed that Landore continued to intersect wide zones of nickel sulphide mineralization which extended the existing zone down dip including a drill hole reporting an interval of 6meters at 1.13% nickel and along strike to the west, which included a drill hole reporting an interval of 12 meters at 1.02%

There are two drill rigs currently helping complete a campaign of 60 holes for approximately 13,000 metres, with one rig dedicated to extending the existing inferred resource along strike in both directions and down dip and the second rig carrying out infill drilling to advance the resource to 'Indicated' status, a requirement for 'scoping' and or pre-feasibility studies.

Landore Resources stock rose nearly 9% on the news valuing the company at £25.24 million.

EMED announces further drill results from Biely Vrch gold prospect
The company said it would continue drilling, up to 7000 metres, in 2007 to collect enough data to compile a maiden resource estimate. Metallurgical testing of the recovered core samples also suggested that the gold recoveries should be relatively straight forward.

Slovakia, Spain step up the priority chain for EMED When EMED first announced it was conducting exploration in Slovakia no one took much notice. At least not until EMED came back with a drill core that intersected 252 metres (from surface) grading 1.2 grams per tonne gold (g/t Au)! Other results included 108 meters grading 1.3 g/t Au and 220 metres grading 0.5 g/t Au ? both again starting from surface.

EMED begins additional drilling in Slovakia
EMED said that drilling has recommenced at Biely Vrch, with the intention of defining further the grade and extent of the mineralisation; drilling with be carried out to depths of 500 meters. EMED have also applied for additional licences surrounding its Devta Licence. If successful, EMED's total land position would increase from 1,312 sq km from 490 sq km.

"our swift progress in Slovakia has been due to a very successful combination of international and local expertise to form an effective team which has demonstrated its excellence in exploration as well as in its consultation with local communities and other stakeholders. We look forward to the results of our current drilling program. We aspire to be in the position to re-establish Slovakia as a major producer of precious metals and perhaps base metals." said Managing Director Harry Anagnostaras-Adams.

Shares in EMED firmed to 11.25 pence.

Emed Mining releases Preliminary Feasibility Study on the Klirou Project
The Klirou Copper-Zinc Project is EMED's most advanced project, located in the Troodos ophiolite complex in Cyprus which has been host to several large copper deposits that have been exploited for centuries. EMED will now carry out a full feasibility study, which is expected to be completed in 2007, with mine development, assuming a positive outcome from additional studies, targeted for 2008.

The pre-feasibility study assumed an open pit mining operation initially to recover 4.6 million tonnes of material. EMED has also identified five additional locations that could provide additional resources to the project, and previous geophysics also highlight the potential for larger, deeper targets which will be drill tested this year.]]>
