Horizonte Minerals focuses on sustainability team as it looks towards Araguaia construction

Experts have been brought in from a range of fields, including specialists sourced from within the Pará State for fauna & flora campaigns

Horizonte Minerals Plc (LON:HZM TSX:HZM) has strengthened its sustainability team as it moves towards a mining permit for its Araguaia nickel project in Brazil.

The junior was awarded its preliminary licence in May and is now working on its installation licence (Li), which is the second of three permits it requires to commission Araguaia and the one that will allow it to start construction.

Experts have been brought in from a range of fields, including specialists sourced from within the Pará State for fauna & flora campaigns with a 25-day field work programme currently in progress

Discussions have been held with Para's Federal University to look at options regarding the uses of slag product from Araguaia laongside talks with the local communities on socio-economic aspects of the project and water management.

“The community continues to demonstrate a strong interest in the Project's progress, which is perceived as a key social and economic driver in a region where the average wage is low.”
